The Peugeot is built as standard with: standard wheelbase and front motor/front wheel drive (FF) setup. Based on the FF Hatchback Peugeot 306, the Peugeot 306 Maxi was developed with special components for rallies. A 2.0 litre front aspirated engine produced 280 horsepower and the car had enlarged fenders, a roof spoiler and a lighter body. Including victories in the 1996 and 1997 rally races in France, this car achieved many racing successes such as the class championship at the 1996 Monte Carlo Rally and third place in the 5th and 6th place.
